Invitation to our information session on the ‘Richtprojekt klybeckplus’

Since the ‘Städtebauliches Leitbild’ (urban planning model) was adopted in 2022, the planning partners have been closely reviewing and further refining the development of the Klybeck site. The ‘Richtprojekt klybeckplus’ (master plan) now provides specific answers regarding land use, open spaces, and mobility. You are welcome to find out first-hand how northern Basel is changing – at our public information session on 26 November 2025.

Covering an area of around 300,000 square metres, the Klybeck site in the north of Basel is one of the largest regeneration sites in Switzerland. The aim is to create an open, green, mixed-use urban neighbourhood that will benefit the whole region. Plans are in place for a new part of Basel to provide space for 8,500 residents and 7,500 jobs as well as a wide range of leisure and cultural facilities.

Since the presentation of the ‘Städtebauliches Leitbild’ (urban planning model) in September 2022, the planning partners have worked with various experts and in consultation with local residents to review and further refine the proposed development. Where are which uses permitted? How should the planned open spaces be assessed? Where and how should traffic flow?

The ‘Richtprojekt’ (master plan) now provides concrete answers to these questions – for example, regarding the design of green spaces and open areas, new mobility options, and the connection of the new neighbourhood to the existing neighbourhoods of Kleinhüningen and Matthäus.

Following the intensive work carried out over the past few months, we would like to give you a progress update at our public information session on:
